Fishing with Divewright
Wreck, Reef, Shark, and More
From Pollack to Porbeagle and Bream to Blue Shark
The North-West coast of Cornwall is a paradise for anglers in view of the large variety of fishing available.
The huge number of wrecks, inshore and offshore reefs and open ground, all combined with the Gulf Stream, make it possible to capture a large number of different and sometimes exotic species, even a rod-caught Sunfish.
One recent trip produced 17 different species of fish, including John Dory, Black Bream, Cuckoo Wrasse, Turbot, and Plaice, as well as the more usual Mackerel, Cod, Pollack, Ling, etc, and, of course, the ubiquitous Pouting.
When Shark fishing we work on the "catch and release" principle. We usually target Tope, Blue Shark, and Porbeagle and have taken Tope up to 60lb, Blue Shark to 120lb, and Porbeagle to an estimated 450lb, all of which were returned unharmed.
Recent research and tip-offs have led us to be able to identify the possible local whereabouts of the rare and relatively unknown Six-gilled Shark, and as a result we are hoping to add this species to our ever lengthening list of species captured.
